St. Patty's Day Eve

No we're not Irish and not even close to it, but who can't still celebrate? We can! I hate Illinois weather...most of the time, but definitely today. How could it be 80 degrees last year and not even break 40 today or even be sunny out? I was so pumped to take the boys to the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Uptown Normal and see the fire trucks and show Colton what parades are all about....CANDY!! Matt kept telling me "Seriously. A parade today and freeze with 2 kids who are battling colds, croupe, ear infections, etc " I was bound and determined to go. So we ventured out all dressed in our green gear, or me at least, and were prepared to battle the cold. Well it didn't last long. As soon as we got the boys strapped in the stroller all snuggled in, one turn and the wind took their breaths away! Poor guys! Luckily due to my mad parallell parking skills we parked right in front of the Amtrak station and were able to enjoy the parade indoors with no one blocking our view!! How were we the only ones who thought of this? The only others in sight were the Subway workers and the face painting ladies!! We acted like we were VIP. So we did miss out on cute pictures outside and the CANDY, but were lucky enough to enjoy some Subway lunch and chocolate chip cookies and each others company. It beat freezing outside let me tell ya.
Wow has my idea of celebrating St Patty's Day changed over the years now that I'm a mommy:). I wouldn't change it for the world, but my bff's bachelorette bash 2 years ago was sure fun and miss days like those every now and then, but never recovering the day after:) I do believe that day was one of the funniest for sure and full of firsts like hand pumping in the bathroom in front of these young college chics, losing my purse which had my pump in it, and almost peeing my pants as I watched my BFF attempt to sober herself up by pumping out the alcohol. She believed anything I told her that night:).
So instead of that craziness, we're gonna have our own fun right here at home with a Summer Shandy in my hand and "Cheers to all out celebrating this great day!"

My little leprechaun's:)
